Hello All. I am a PR holder and arrived in Canada last month. My dependent child (2 year old) also accompanied me into Canada as a US citizen. The CBSA stamped his passport for 2 years. Now I am filling up inland sponsorship application for my child. I am stuck on form IMM 5406 and IMM5669. As per description - this form is to be filled up with primary applicant information (which means my son) and under parents section my information would need to be entered. But as soon as I land on this form online, it autofills my name and DOB. I am not able to update these fields. Can someone please guide me on what is to be done for this? or if I am misinterpreting what needs to go into form IMM 5406 and IMM 5669? Thanks

Are you compliant with your RO given your child is 2 year old?

Have you spent 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years?
Since I have entered Canada on PR now, I have not completed 730 days. that will be in future. But I dont think that is tied to putting in an application to sponsor my child into Canada. As long as I can support the child financially, the application can be submitted. Isn't it? I already ran eligibility check for sponsoring child on the portal.

Just because you got into Canada doesn’t mean your RO isn’t going to be in the equation

Do you mean this is your first landing? If so was your child listed as part of your PR application? As non-accompanying? If you previously landed when did you get PR and how long have you spent in Canada during the past 5 years (or since you received PR if under 5 years). You should be both compliant with your RO and be able to financially support your child.

thankyou for sharing this post. I am in Canada with a PR card. I have been living in the US for work. I understand the permutations that you shared in the thread above. I figured the original issue that I was facing when I started application for my child. I was able to get past that.

You haven't answered the question. Here's the math: if you became a PR in the last five years and have been OUTSIDE canada less than 1095 days since the day you became a PR, you are in compliance with the residency obligation. (If you became a PR more than five years ago, same but outside Canada < 1095 days in the last five years).

If you're out of compliance, that may well delay processing of your sponsorship app and possibly cause IRCC to review your PR status (conceivably revoking it, subject to appeal).

yes i got that idea from the thread you shared. my PR was approved in 2022. I crossed the border to complete COPR formalities in 2022 itself. Then went back to the US. and came to live in Canada now in 2025. So I am well within 1095 days limit. Thanks for sharing the maths above. that gives a much clear insight. I appreciate.

Not clear from what you shared but sure you've done your own arithmetic!
