I think I was reacting to the comment from another poster that "there is no way to really compensate for age these days", plus some snide comments I had read on other threads today. Even for EE that is not really accurate (as you and others did point out). I do take your point that the entrepreneurial route is not relevant to EE. (I am also a startup founder with one successful exit, but not in Canada)
please develop it's interesting, i'm interested by your path.

This has nothing to do with not valuing the skills of people over 40/45. This is purely a comment about existing economic immigration programs. After job points were removed most options for those over 40 were closed. I think it’s problematic and will need to be addressed but does not change the current options. In general there is lots of evidence that in general economic immigrants do better when they arrive in Canada when they are younger. There are of course exceptions and also likely depends on the citizenship of the immigrant. Most of the successful older immigrants are moving to Canada due to a job offer or intracompany transfer in a high skilled and more senior position.
Thank you for clarifying!

I am maybe not a typical case. In terms of EE criteria I have a PhD (in a scientific field), speak English and French fluently, and have close connections with Canada (education and family). My career has been mostly in the U.S. I plan on remaining a tech entrepreneur and investor in Canada instead of looking for a job working for someone else. I'm aware of things like the startup visa program, which may be an option for my business partner if he makes the final decision to also move to Canada.

So old also look out for new programs. There are talks about ways to try to secure some of the high skilled workers who no longer feel that they skills or work is welcome in the US

Suggest you review the point structure under EE for education points.

Sorry, i was not clear. There are some additional points for higher educated level which is normal. But it seems that most of the points under EE are for language, local experience, family, age. Anyway, it seems that it will be very difficult to immigrate now as they cut 50% of the province nomination. Tough period for people like me.
