My wife applied for spousal PR outland application for me. I got PPR request on 20th January 2025. I am in Canada on visitor visa. So requested virtual landing on 20th Jan itself. But no response yet. Not even P1. Has anyone has the idea about timeline for virtual landing nowadays?

Called them multiple times. They are telling to "just wait".

Varies. I got everything done within a month after the background check was completed ( thought I didn't get P1 - had to check with IRCC and did the KAI method) My friends waited 2 months and some 3 months

When did you received PPR? And what is KAI method?

I applied inland, last year (2024). The KAI method is used when you know for sure P1 has been sent out to you, but you didn't get it. So you send all the information they would usually ask to the IRCC email. I only did this because it was confirmed that P1 was sent to me, but I waited around 2 weeks and didn't get it.

You also appear to have landed at a time where backlogs were not as long which also likely helped.

It’s unfortunate you didn’t update your address when you arrived in Canada. This is one of the risks of coming to Canada and IRCC being unaware so they try to land you abroad. You enter a new queue for inland landing so your timeline is in line with others. All you can do is wait. When IRCC says you just have to wait multiple times the answer is not going to change the more you call.

I agree overall BUT: it's not unreasonable to complain, check more, and complain to your MP, too.

IRCC has tightened up a number of timelines and processing where things are mostly/entirely under their control. And where the individuals are sort of in limbo while waiting (although I recognize many have open work permits under the spousal program now).

But this one is deadspace/deadtime: there's no good reason for it, it doesn't help anyone, and it's entirely under IRCC control (it's not a delay due to security clearances or anythign like that). And it has real costs and risks for the applicants and society - health care delays, gaps in employment market, etc.

Heck, it's not even directly due to personnel availability (like in-person interviews or other that might be limited to office hours and space). And it's not reliant upon physical procedures like physically stamping a passport.

It's virtual - the entire point is that quite a lot of this is done without direct personnel intervention, on asynchronous time (the two sides don't have to be doing the same thing at the same time).

Which tells us this is first and foremost a problem of organization - if there are delays this is because IRCC can't get their act together on this.

I think anyone in this case SHOULD complain. Even if you want IRCC to be 'stricter' on immigration, this is for already approved spousal apps, and is just inefficient and embarrassing.

*Yes, with all due minor criticism to individuals for not updating their addresses - but with far bigger criticism for IRCC that they don't even seem capable of updating addresses efficiently, promptly and simply, and that's not at all a difficult task, just more bad organization. Some delays at IRCC are understandable and not under their control. Some are just because they haven't devoted the time and effort to get organized.

Fair point. Do I think the MP will do anything. Most likely they will just tell OP that they are being processed. MPs also not well versed in immigration and often focus on problems or much longer delays. No harm trying but with realistic expectations. Given the elections also may be more difficult to have MP office look into these things

Yes, it's true that overall individual complaints don't have much impact - and when complaints do have an impact (because many of them), it's rarely to the benefit of the individuals complaining, but to subsequent applicants.

On the other hand: if phrased correctly, this is not a general unfocussed complaint about things that are more-or-less out of IRCC control (eg security screening delays, where everyone feels powerless). It really is within IRCC mandate, and just piss poor organization. It's fixable.

first of all, virtual landing "queue" is extremely long these days, I was waiting for almost 2 months for eCOPR now (everything is done but only one last step)
in your case when you request for virtual landing someone has to actually transfer your application to inland virtual landing office, this can take from days to months (like everything else)
if you are waiting for too long please reach out to your MP, I'm sure they can help

Yes I did not update. I connected with MP and they told to update the address. I have updated the address now. How much I have to wait after the address update?

Also, If I had updated the address early, before receiving the PPR, still I would be in queue of inland right? Please tell me the difference?

Can I go back to my country and get COPR on the same PPR request even if 30 days has passed?
