Hello! I have been working on my French for the last few months to get the Francophone visa (yes, I have a sponsor). However, when I took my exam, I messed up a bit on the listening portion, which is so annoying because I always did so well on my practice exams!

Anyways, I got a high Level 5 in speaking and a Level 4 in listening. I am planning on taking it again because I was so nervous—I know I did worse than what I could have done. However, I was wondering if anyone has been successful in getting the visa with these results? I know I need a Level 5 in both listening and speaking, but I'm just curious.

Thank you all for your time!

You have to meet the minimum requirements or you can expect a refusal.

Yeah I figured as much, but I was just curious if anyone had personal experience with it. I am retaking it next month in which case I will hopefully do well (:

Do you mean applying with a lower score?

I mean I’m going to retake the TEF exam next month which hopefully will go better. I struggled to sleep the night before (stress) which made it so difficult to pay attention during the reading and listening.

but I was curious if anyone had experience with applying with a lower score and what their experience was.

You certainly do not want to apply with a score that is below the requirements specified on the IRCC web site. That will result in an automatic refusal.
