Hi,

I have a question regarding using a marriage certificate registered in Vietnam for spousal sponsorship.

I am a dual citizen (Canada-Vietnam) currently living with my Vietnamese wife in Vietnam. We got married last May with a ceremony and reception but have not officially registered a marriage certificate yet. We intend to register the marriage in Vietnam using my vietnam citizenship so the marriage certificate will show my citizenship as Vietnamese. My question is whether this will be a problem when we apply for spousal sponsorship in the future.

A concern I have is that my name on the marriage certificate under my vietnam id/citizenship (Full name) will be slightly different than the name on my Canadian passport (Middle name omitted).

Would appreciate any insight and advice you can offer. Thanks in advance.

No issue but would include an explanation letter. I would suggest registering your marriage as soon as possible.
