Hi,

I applied for Spousal Sponsorship and I am finally at that place where I am declaring that I am in Canada and submitting my photos for my PR Card. I really don't want to mess this up, as it is already going to take months for the card to come through.

I have 3 major questions.

1.) Can I use the same photo that I used when I first applied? Did it at London Drugs and it is less than 12 months old, but are the specs too different?
2.) When I upload the photo described above there is a message that says that an agent can make the necessary adjustments when the photo is received. Is this reliable? I am nervous about making adjustments on a professional photo.
3.) Every time I have ever had to submit a photo to IRCC they ask for either the stamp on the back or the digital receipt and usually my name and DOB. I do not understand how to include those in the single photo upload slot while matching the specs and the file size. What is the proper way to submit these?

It took over an hour to speak to someone at IRCC and the representative reminded me of talking to chatGPT. I have watched several videos about submitting, but I don't feel any more confident about the process.

I appreciate all advice, but I would be especially grateful for any visual aides, links, or professional recommendation.

Thank you,
D

1.) Yes, you can use it. Make sure it's according to the specifications. Here's the link : https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...grants/pr-card/apply-renew-replace/photo.html

2.) You can crop it accordingly. If you don't want to, then simply upload as is and the agent would modify it based on the requirements. No issues at all!

3.) No need to submit the back. Just the front is need for the PR portal photo. Upload the digital one that you already have,

Thank you for your advice. Please tell me how you are sure that I don’t need the back/digital receipt? The article you linked (which I have been over and over) specifically describes the back and instructions for providing the information in a separate document. Which is what I did when I first applied. There doesn’t seem to be much information about the PR Portal.

When you declare that you're in Canada, it will let you go to the next steps in the portal where you would fill in your mailing address and also see that they only give one space for the frontal photo. As for the photo requirements it clearly mentions :

What kind of photo can I use for my first PR card?
Your photo must be

  • clear, sharp and in focus
  • taken with a neutral facial expression (eyes open and clearly visible, mouth closed, no smiling)
  • taken with uniform lighting, without shadows, glares or flash reflections
  • taken straight on, with face and shoulders centred and squared to the camera
  • taken in front of a plain white background with a clear difference between your face and the background
    • Photos must represent your natural skin tones.
  • reflective of your current appearance (taken within the last 12 months)
  • in a JPEG or PNG format
  • between 715 × 1000 and 2000 × 2800 pixels
  • no larger than 4MB
  • taken by a professional photographer
  • an original photo that is not altered in any way or taken from an existing photo

Yes, I understand all of that. But just because it doesn’t mention the back in that specific section, doesn’t show me that the back/receipt is not necessary. How else would they verify that the photo is less than 12 months old? I would like to see some evidence that it is not necessary rather than the absence of evidence that says it is necessary.
Thank you.

Have you submitted your declaration in the portal that you're in Canada? If so, what is showing in your photo section? If it wants your back photo in the portal it will literally be indicated in that section with a space for you to upload it. However, I gave my P2 on October 30 and it didn't ask for me to upload the back side and I'm sure it didn't ask the other few hundred applicants who also got their P2!

Hello,

Yes, I submitted my declaration and then typed in my address and I’m only having trouble with the photo. When I spoke with IRCC the agent said that they were processing photos from September. Did you get a confirmation after you submitted P2? Like, did they say it was approved and sent off to be made into a card?

Nope. Everyone is waiting for their eCoPRs since mid October! As of now, even some early Octobers still haven't got their eCoPRs. And regarding the photo, it will always say "In Review With IRCC" even after you get your PR card. Your focus should on the eCoPR rather than a photo at this point!
