Based on the recent announcement today "The 2025–2026 study permit intake cap will include master’s and doctoral students who will now have to submit a provincial or territorial attestation letter. We will be reserving approximately 12% of allocation spaces for these students in recognition of the benefits they bring to the Canadian labour market"

My intake is on Winter 2025. January 2025 specifically, but we have lodged my study permit application already two weeks ago. Am i still needing to submit PAL?

Wait and see for specifics but if going to a public DLI then doubt it. IRCC is trying to stop all the private DLIs like UCW which is a money grab with no career prospects.

I agree with you. I think they are going to limit the numbers for the garbage private universities. And it's about time. However we will have to see once the details are published.

What school? If accepted to a public university most should be able to get PAL. As mentioned before this is because of a huge uptick in international students attending private university for masters programs which have become the most popular degree mills. This should have been addressed last winter since everyone predicted this was going to happen. If you have been accepted to UCW, NYIT, IBU, etc. save your money and attend a public university.

Canuck78 when was there a time this Government has actually thought ahead in regards to there policies ?

It’s all knee jerk reactions .Trying to APPEAR to make changes, get the headlines, just to get votes .

One only has to read thru when they implemented restrictions on foreigners buying property here .

There were so many exemptions it was basically toothless

This is a private / for profit school. Please pick another school. Private universities have horrible reputations in Canada.

Already paid the deposit, and lodge study permit application two weeks ago. Just hoping no PAL is required since the application was lodged before the announcement today.

Honestly, the better outcome is if your study permit is refused, you get a refund from the school, and can then switch to a public university and apply again.

Anyway, I know you've made your choice so good luck. If you get the study permit approved, come to Canada, complete one semester at this school, and then switch to a public university.

Keep on discovering these private universities nobody in Canada has never heard of. Thought the only university in the area was Brock.

A lot more political will to reform international student permits than real estate.
