Visitor record expires today

My mom's visitor record expires today. She has a flight scheduled today to leave from Albert to Tor. 2 hours lay over to catch the 2nd flight. We got an email saying 1st flight got delay now we have only 45 min layover. In case if they miss the 2nd flight would this be considered as over stay? Should I apply for an extension quickly ?

Would apply online for the extension if she misses the connection and has to stay another day

Thank You. She missed her 2nd flight but they ware able to get her into another flight the same day. So she left Canada the same day that her visa expires.
