Just a quick one. Has anyone moved to Ontario/ anywhere else in Canada on a Temporary Work Permit in order to gain Canadian work experience, then applied for PR whilst working over there? I’m a Registered Nurse in the UK with a Masters degree, but thanks to lack of arranged employment/age etc my estimated CRS is rubbish despite having 67 for eligibility. I’m thinking a year or so of working in Canada will help matters. Thoughts?

How old are you? What is your CRS score? Have you started the licensing process as a nurse to work in Canada? You need an approved job offer with LMIA to apply for a closed work permit. You need to show your are the only person experienced or with the education to do the job.

Sure - people have done that. The trick is getting the work permit which requires a job offer and approved LMIA from an employer.

Hi thanks for the reply. I’m 45 and wanted to gain experience of the Canadian healthcare system before commencing the registration process by hopefully getting a nurse aide/ support worker type role with LMIA first. My projected CRS is 328

So you will need to do a job search and find employer willing to go through LMIA process. If you get a LMIA for a nurse aid/support worker, IRCC may say you are overqualified for a minimum wage job that requires college training.
