Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well.

I could really use some help here. I submitted my file back in October 2022 and did the biometric thing in the same month. But since then, I haven't heard a peep from IRCC. They're not responding to any of my webforms. I even reached out to MPs, but they just said my application is still in progress. I went ahead and got a GCMS note, and there didn't seem to be any issues. But now I'm feeling pretty stuck. It seems like my only option left is taking my application to federal court. Can anyone lend a hand? Is there any way to speed up the decision process? And if I do take it to federal court, any idea how much that'll cost me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no way to expedite process. Get a Canadian immigration lawyer. Going to federal court will cost $10k+. Also federal court will not approve your study permit. All you will get is a ruling that IRCC must make a decision in xx amount of time. You are from Afghanistan correct? That is most likely a reason for the long reply, as IRCC is focused on resettling tens of thousands of Afghans, and concerned you will just claim asylum upon entry.

Thanks for your help! Yeah, I'm from Afghanistan. If there's anything bad, the officer should have written it in the GCMS note, but there was nothing to worry about in my GCMS note. Many of my friends got their visa within 4 or 6 months, but my file is stuck. I don't know why.

Most likely delay is because of Country of Origin. Have you considered other countries to study instead of spending more money with lawyers to go to Federal Court, Dont get me wrong, it is your right to exhaust all options, but in my opinion the wait since 2022 should trigger to consider other countries.
