Hello, I am in a situation where I don't know which status to put for the 30-day gap between my study and work permit, as there's no option for implied status. Is there anyone who can guide me?

Be aware that for this period of time you probably should NOT rely on getting 15 days credit toward the presence requirement. Be sure to wait to apply with enough credit toward the physical presence requirement you meet the requirement without counting this period of time . . . plus wait an additional month as a buffer (acknowledging many others here suggest less, ten days or so extra, is enough).

The problem: Your GCMS records might not verify you had temporary resident status during that period of time. This can result in IRCC declining to give credit for this period of time. While that could be contested, if you are certain you actually did have status during that period, it is rarely worth doing that since that approach would almost certainly mean a much, much longer processing timeline. This is especially true for this period of time, where waiting just an extra 15 days would be far easier and almost certainly a lot faster.

If you are certain that you had implied status for this period of time, you can nonetheless include it in the physical presence calculation (just be sure to wait until you have enough credit without counting it). Again, if you are certain about your status, enter which type of status you know you had. I am not familiar with the current or recent rules governing implied status. But if based on the rules in effect at that time, you can positively conclude you had implied status, which would mean you know what status you had (not just "implied" status in a generic sense, but what particular type of status), based on those rules, you can enter that status. For example, as I understand things, a FN in Canada who has been issued a formal Visitor's Record can apply to extend their visitor status, and if they have timely made the application for an extension, even after that has expired they will continue to have visitor status, implied visitor status, pending the outcome of the application for an extension; however, that might count as a period of implied visitor status only if they are in fact granted the extension.
