Hi, about the 1-2 years, do you mean from the date of AOR or from the date BG went into Progress?

My Express Entry PR application AOR was on April 30 and is still under processing.
My study permit and social insurance number expired on December 5, 2023. I already applied for a study permit extension on September 20, 2023, but it is still under processing.
Currently, I am on a maintained status in Canada, which means I can continue studying and/or working based on the conditions in my original study permit, until I receive a decision.
I will be graduating next week and I will apply for the post-graduate work permit (PGWP).
Am I authorized to start working immediately once I submit my PGWP or Do I have to wait for my PGWP to be processed?
According to the IRCC website, I can work if I apply for a PGWP before the study permit expires. Does this mean I have to wait or, provided that I am on maintained status, I can start working immediately once I submit my PGWP?
I need your help as I have a job offer now and do not know what to do.

Congrats! May I ask, were you in comprehensive security screening, since your background taken around 5 months to complete? and were you asked for any ADR in between ?

I think I've been following @Lord_Tony 's journey enough to confidently say he was not in security screening. The reason his background check took time to complete was that the application was paused midway(iirc, security was yet to started by PVO Sydney). SS generally takes longer than a year.
That is correct mine was not a comprehensive security check. The delay with my security is because - for Australia apart from PCC one must also submit diving history. Thus the IRCC analyst who did my security didn't know how to handle Aussie PCC/DH and had left a comment for the officer to pick it up. Bad for me the PVO CIO Sydney / SVO Ottawa officers didn't pick mine for almost 6 months. In October last week either after the Auditor General's scathing report or because my MP's office contacted them, IRCC moved my SVO to Etobicoke. After my application moved, I was so relieved to get the approval. I almost did a Ph.D. in enhanced security during my 6-month wait, my kids and wife were more stressed than me.
My eligibility completed but still Background Check status ( we are ...we will let know when we start you bgc)
Do you remember what was you dtatues after eligibility completed?
Is that means they have started my bgc or not started yet
the message on GC key is not the most helpful, what does your tracker say, does it say in progress in the Background tab?
Thanks for the reply, my bg has been in progress for around 5 months now, not sure how long it's gonna take. There's nothing we can do about it but wait, even if I order GCMS notes or call IRCC they will just inform me that it's in progress and to wait. I just hope and pray it does not go more than a year as I've seen many applicants still stuck in BG check for more than a year/2years :/
you never even got back 1 GCMS notes on the details of your application? Try CBSA notes they are better in responding compared to IRCC. The other question I have is are you Inland, and I assume you are April AOR?
