I'm glad you're so optimistic :)

I was wondering recently if everyone has to give biometrics. Does anyone know?

The reason I'm asking is I spoke with Canadian Embassy in Norway and they said there is no biometric collection office in Norway, so I would need to travel abroad to get those sorted if needed and my assumption is I'll have to at some point.
That's really a good question. i'd strongly suggest you to start a new thread - NORWAY - biometrics process....or something like that. Im sure you will be able to get some answers and insights from applicants who applied from Norway. Usually in other countries too, biometrics is not done at the Canadian consulate/embassy, instead some third party site like VFS or others. So its possible there might be some agency doing this in Norway, but from CIC website, it seems that there are no VACs in Norway. So it might be that they treat the biometrics differently in Norway's case.

Yep, there's no VACs in Norway and the Canadian Embassy confirmed I'll have to go to, for example, Sweden, or any other country of my choice. They said biometrics cannot be obtained via, for example, the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration, it has to be a Canadian or Canadian-blessed office/agency/etc.

So, I'm aware that I'll have to make an appointment abroad and get it sorted there. I was hoping IRCC might somehow obtain biometrics from my passport (it's a biometrics one) or passport issuing centre in my home country, but I guess we're not that digitalized and connected yet.

Oh well, this whole process isn't easy, I was just not expecting hurdles and delays at nearly every step :)

Hi thanks for your reply. FN means file number, I received a letter with file number and indicate they received my application. However, I didn't see the activity of AOR in the tracker, so I was a little confused. Additionally, SA would probably follow after the "eligibility has been updated to completed" in the spnsor's tracker?
I have been on the forum for a few years mostly on family class sponsorship section. You are the first one that I see using "FN" for File number which I think it means application number. Anyway, if you get an email that contains the file number/application number, that's AOR.
SA can come any time after AOR.

I am not wholly unsympathetic, but then, not overly sympathetic either.

My family is from Norway and I have spent time in both Norway and Sweden. Even if you are in one of the places like Bergen, distant from the border with Sweden, the distances are not that great. My wife had to go for biometrics in the Philippines. There are only 2 cities there where it can be done. Both are far from her home. She had to get to a city with an airport, then fly an hour and a half to Manila (closest to her) to get biometrics. Not possible to get there and back same day. In fact, the way the timing worked out, she had to stay in a Manila hotel for 2 nights. Others in her country could easily spend a whole day (or more) to make the trip to Manila or Cebu. In Norway, it's easy to drive into Sweden. To travel within the Philippines can mean one or more flights or one or more long ferry rides, plus land transportation after that. I suspect that some countries are even more difficult.

So, while maybe you have to leave Norway (which sounds burdensome - having to go to another country) in reality, it involves no greater hardship than what is faced by others within their own borders. The hurdles and delays you face are really common to all.

Best wishes for your application and I'll hope for minimal obstacles for you.

Thank you for sharing your story and best wishes.

Please note I'm not comparing myself to others. I understand every journey is different and some have it harder than others. I am not here to compete.

I was sharing my experiences as I feel this is a "safe space" to do so. People here understand better than anyone else that sometimes those small hurdles can be very frustrating.

My biometrics trip will also involve flying and overnight stay, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Based on many of our experiences since mid July, very few TRVs have been processed. Seems that Family Reunification strategy has been changed from issuing TRVs, to Faster Processing of Spousal PRs in 5-7 months. March and April applicants have started to get their COPRs and PPRs.

But you never know, perhaps your TRV application has different circumstances than ours and it may be processed within 60 days. In either case, please keep us updated as that's the only way we can learn about the ever-changing patterns of IRCC.
Wish you best of luck.

Why are you waiting for medical request? I'd recommend for advance medical. Just send an email to lahore medical center to give you an appointment.
Since you got your AOR/SA - use the UCI no. for getting the medical appointment. The same medical will be good for both - TRV and Spousal PR.

Hi June applicants.
Have you started revving your engine?

Well, May 22 and 23 applicants on this forum got their PPRs. I wonder if all of you are checking your GcKey and tracker regularly....

And while doing that, pls don't forget to share and update us as well.
wish all of you the best and hopefully we start to hear good news soon.
