Hi, I applied as a single person, and now I get married while my application is still in process. Am I required to update my marital status or is it optional? I applied online and didn’t see that requirement. Once my application is approved, I’d like my husband to be with me in the oath ceremony, so I don’t want any trouble by then. Please advise. Thanks

You have to contact them if any of the below happens(change in marital status is not one of it) -
While we process your application, contact us if any information on your application changes or if you
- change your address
- plan to leave Canada for more than 2 weeks in a row
- can’t check your application status online and the normal processing time for your application has passed
- are charged with a crime
- applied as part of a group, but now want to continue the application by yourself
- need an accommodation or a waiver (exemption) for
- the citizenship test
- proving your English or French language skills
- the oath of citizenship
Thank you so much. So, it also says that contact them "if any information on your application changes". I think I'm probably contacting them through a webform just to be sure. I just hope it doesn't delay my application process.
