Hi All,
My parents got approved for Super visa and will be coming to Canada in the next 2 months.
The only problem is that they are planning to bring a lot of stuff with them.
4 suitcases, 2 carry ons, and also 2 cats and a dog.
It may sound funny but yeah thats how much stuff they are planning to bring.
Do you think this might raise questions from screening officer upon arrival?
I am a bit worried that this is just too much stuff to bring for a temporary visa holder and
that they might not allow my parents to enter Canada under assumption that my parents might be planning
permanently move to Canada and will not leave after super visa expiration.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

They most likely won't be able to bring all of the pets. Airlines only generally allow one per per person on the plane and pets typically aren't allowed in the cargo hold during summer months - usually not until October.

Thank you for reply.
I didnt know about that. But i think they already called the airline ( Turkish airline) and were told that it is okay to bring 3 pets in the next month. A bit pricey close to 2k but seems to be doable. I am a bit more concerned about what will happen at the border.

Ok - it's good you checked with the airline. Make sure the pets have all of the shots they need to be traveling to Canada.

None of us can tell you how CBSA will feel about this when they arrive.

It is possible that the screening officer may ask your parents questions about the amount of luggage they are bringing. The officer may be concerned that your parents are planning to stay in Canada permanently, and they may want to make sure that your parents have strong ties to their home country.

To address the officer's concerns, your parents could bring documentation that shows their ties to their home country. This could include things like a lease agreement for their home in their home country, bank statements showing that they have a financial stake in their home country, or letters from family and friends in their home country.

It is also important for your parents to be prepared to answer questions about their plans for their stay in Canada. They should be able to explain why they are coming to Canada, how long they plan to stay, and what they plan to do while they are here.

If your parents are able to answer the officer's questions satisfactorily, they should be able to enter Canada without any problems. However, if the officer is still concerned, they may deny your parents entry.

Here are some tips for your parents to help them avoid raising any red flags with the screening officer:
  • Be prepared to answer questions about their ties to their home country.
  • Be prepared to explain their plans for their stay in Canada.
  • Be honest and straightforward with the officer.
  • Do not bring any large amounts of cash or valuables.
  • Do not bring any items that could be considered contraband.
If your parents are still worried about the amount of luggage they are bringing, they could consider shipping some of their belongings ahead of time. This would help to reduce the amount of luggage they have to carry with them, and it would also help to show the officer that they are not planning to stay in Canada permanently.

It is very unusual for temporary visitors to bring pets to Canada especially multiple pets. Most have people come and feed their cats for example and often board their dogs. Flying both ways in 2 months especially in a cargo hold is very stressful and has lead to death of some pets.
