You are too old to be sponsored. Since you've been living outside of Canada while your father is inside of Canada and have also studied and worked, I think it would be challenging to prove that you meet the dependency criteria for someone who is over 22. I personally do not think this is the best path.
You may still be a PR. Do you know if your PR status has been revoked? If your PR status has not been officially revoked, there are other options you can try.
I don’t meet the residency obligation at all. I didn’t try to go back to Canada because my pr card was valid only for one year as a minor. I do believe I have a good chance under the humanitarian and compassionate grounds but that’s it really, my PRTD application can likely be proved because I am now 24.

Was there a reason you left at age 17. If for example you chose to go abroad to study that would be a personal choice to leave. When did your PR card expire? Very strange that your PR card was only valid for one year. That typically is only the case if you haven’t met your RO at a certain point. It wasn’t my decision to leave Canada, my father took me there and left me in Ethiopia and had insisted I stay in Ethiopia because he wasn’t able to financially take care of me. I didn’t really understand my status or how my residency worked only until recently. I didn’t really choose to go abroad or study or anything at all I had to put myself through those decisions because I was sort of neglected by family and had to progress through my life. I do not have a US visa and I don’t meet the requirement for residency at all.

Had you finished high school? If so, why wasn’t working an option? You can attempt to apply for a PRTD based on H&C. If approved you will be able to return to Canada.

Your only option is to apply for PRTD based on H&C. You don’t qualify to be sponsored as a PR but also because you are over 22.

No, you won't have the "right" to return to Canada since you weren't in Canada within the last year.
