Hi everyone,

I'm preparing to sponsor my wife and her 11 year old daughter (Filipinas) to move to Canada. I myself am a Canadian PR since 2021 (British citizen).

A friend told me that I may need a signature from the father to allow the daughter to move here.

The parents were never married, and have been separated for 6+ years. Is the signature still a requirement from the father? I can't find any information specifically on this matter.

Thank you.

Either the mother must have sole legal custody of the child which has been awarded through the courts or the father must provide signed consent for the child to move to Canada. Does the mother have sole legal custody?

He is listed on the certificate, and just now he's thankfully agreed to sign any paperwork that comes his way so his daughter can have a good life.
