So that people who have no intention to settle in Quebec are not able to apply without misrepresentation.

But, how many days do you think one should pass? Till you receive citizenship? What about someone who doesn't plan to obtain citizenship? May I ask what is your basis / any sources behind this reasoning?

I agree that people who want to live extremely risk free should avoid moving but I don't agree with the practice where "guidelines" to live risk-free are presented as rules you shouldn't break. People's lives are difficult as they are, we don't need to make them harder by adding more unnecessary restrictions.

I have seen people moving during citizenship process as that looks reasonably safe, but at the same time they had their reasons to move due to job or family etc.
But, ethically and practically if people moves right after getting PR through PNP then intent is always questionable during their next round of immigration process because province has nominated you for the skill or labour market gap you are fulfilling for them.

But, there is always a gray area, as you mentioned correctly it is written nowhere that we can't move after PR to other province.
So , even if you move after PR to other province then keep all the documents ready to proof your changed intent .

If you want to move outside Quebec because you are not able to find a job in Quebec and found one outside, that seems like a valid enough reason to move. To be safe, I would suggest keeping a proof of documents that you applied to various jobs in Quebec and were not accepted for any, in case IRCC asks you to justify your initial intention to settle in Quebec / the reason for your move. There is no reason to wait -- if you decide to wait, how long would you wait? There are no rules about staying x months/years in Quebec after getting PR before you're okay to leave.

For your citizenship application, the time you reside in Quebec is treated the same as any other province in Canada. The citizenship application has nothing to do with residency inside/outside Quebec.

Regarding sponsorship, somebody else might provide a better answer since I have not done this myself, but, I think, you needing a CSQ would depend entirely on where you are living at that time and are bringing your family to. So, before your move out of Quebec, you would need a CSQ; after your move, you wouldn't.

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. Good luck!
I'm really thankful for your answers. This will help me a lot for my decisions. I agree with what you said and it makes a lot of sense for me. Thanks again and good luck!

Hello Everyone,

I received my CSQ just a week ago (Regular Skilled Worker program).
However, I renewed my passport lately, so the passport information I provided when I have submitted my documents for the CSQ application have changed (Passport number, expiry date, etc.).

Am I supposed to upload both the new and old passports in my PR application?

One more question if I may, my wife will be renewing her passport in a couple of months. By the time she has new passport details, our PR application would have been submitted already (with her old/expired passport details - Passport number, issue and expiry dates) !

Do you know if we can change her passport info in this case after the PR applicationhas been submitted? Or do we need for the IRCC to ask for the new passport once they process our application and find out that the passport has expired?

Thank you,

Jared

Hi @Jared_B! Could you share your timeline for receiving your CSQ? When did MIFI receive all your docs? When did you hear back? Thank you!

Hello all
Has anyone received confirmation email for PR recently? I would like to know how long it takes following submitting your federal file (Quebec skilled worker program)? I know there is a strike going on right now. I am concerning about the average processing time which is currently 20 months! I saw some timelines for the federal stages (mostly in March) on Facebook which took applicants about 5 months after submitting their application to receive PR confirmation email. However, the average time has not been changed over the past three months ago, although it is being updated every week!

I have also seen a similar trend of 5-month processing from at least two people on the /r/ImmigrationCanada subreddit.

I just sent all my CSQ documents two weeks ago. So, I am still waiting on that to be approved before I can even consider the PR application. How long have you been waiting?

Can we submit PR application for Quebec while CSQ application is still in process?

Hi all,

My family applied for PR after obtaining the CSQ. We passed the medical exam on Sept 27, 2022. The online application says

"

  • We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
  • September 27, 2022 You passed the medical exam.
  • We need additional documents to process your application. We will send you a letter or email with details.
  • You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
  • We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
  • Background Check: Not Applicable.
  • Final Decision: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
"

This has been the status since the medical exam. They have not sent us any email asking for additional documents. And I do not know what documents I could supply other than the background check. I don't know if it makes any difference if we are US citizens (is that why they don't need a background check?) I had gotten my FBI background check report but my wife's fingerprints failed so we never ended up submitting those documents, and my wife would have to redo her background check. Daughter is dual US/Canadian citizen.

Any idea what is causing the delay and how we can get this process moving faster?

Thanks!

I also realized that in my application, they have listed my wife as a dependent and have no information on our child!!! I just wrote an email to them about it. I had provided documents related to our child at the time of the PR application (Sept, 2021)

Hi everyone,

I submitted my application for PR (under the QSW stream) back in mid-March. I had expected a long wait (~20 months), but then it seemed like everything was moving quickly at first:

PR Application submitted: March 11th, 2023
Application received: March 14th, 2023
Biometrics requested: March 14th, 2023
Biometrics appointment: March 17th, 2023
Pre arrival services letter: March 18th, 2023
Medical request: March 23rd, 2023
Medical appointments: March 25th, 2023
Medical approved: March 30th, 2023

But then since the end of March, I haven't heard anything. Do I really have another 18 month or so wait? Looking at other people's timelines, it seemed like after the biometrics and medical were finished, the approval came relatively soon afterwards.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

PTM

It's all up in the air. Some people get it within a month of their medical. Some people like us, have been waiting for over 8 months now since the medical and no news.
