So I'm married with a child and my mom sponsored our applications, since she's a Canadian. I made a stupid mistake by misreading the validity of my family members' COPRs.

Basically, I went to Canada last year to get my PR card, without rest of my family. This year we tried, and at the airport they said the visas already expired. So yeah that's the situation.

What can or should I do next? Is there avenue to salvage this or do I need to file new PR applications for my family?

Sorry to be the bearer of this, but it was Google's fault:
https://arrivein.com/daily-life-in-...rmation-of-permanent-residence-copr-extended/

Important: As of November 1, 2021, you can no longer get your expired Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) extended. If your COPR has expired, you will need to apply for permanent residence again, pay the required fees, and meet the current requirements for selection. The information provided in the below sections no longer applies. For more information on how to apply for permanent residence, download our guide on Immigrating to Canada.

Thanks Poonga. I'm looking at family sponsorship rn. The situation is abit more complicated - my family needs travel visa to Canada so we need to apply from outside Canada and we are also residing in a 3rd country from our home country. Does it make things more complicated?

You need to sponsor your family members for PR through a new application (you will be their sponsor). Since you are a PR and not a citizen, you must be living in Canada at the time you submit the application and must continue living in Canada while the application is processed. You cannot apply while outside of Canada or live outside of Canada while the application is processed.

@scylla got it. There are reasons preventing us from moving to Canada right away for 1 more year. Is it possible for my mother to do another imm5406e for me and my family? Technically I'm already a PR so I don't know if it's still possible. This is so awkward and stupid situation I got myself into. Appreciate all the help!

No, it's not possible for your mother to submit another application. This was only possible when she was sponsoring you. She cannot sponsor you when you are already a PR - and she cannot sponsor your family separately.

You must now sponsor your family. But again, this will only be possible after you have moved to Canada.

Right. What options are there for us to move together to Canada? Can I apply for their visitor visas and once in Canada, file inland sponsorship?

Or will only what you described be possible?

Yes, they can certainly try applying for TRVs. Of course there's no guarantee of approval so you want to have a back up plan to that.

Another option is for your spouse to qualify and apply for PR independently through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry.
