Learning french to pass TEF is quite an undertaking.
Not all friction is a bad friction. Committing towards something is actually good and forces someone to think :D

IELTS CLB9 is not that easy as well for non-native speakers. Most people are stuck at 6.5 for writing or speaking.
On a surprising note though, you are not wrong when it comes to people being stuck at lower scores. It is weird to see that.

IELTS is still an easy exam though. CLB9 in IELTS is still a steal compared to other pathways. It'll be a lot harder for people to survive in Canada if they are going to struggle with IELTS CLB9.

CLB9 is literally:
1. Right letter format + Right paragraph format + no grammatical mistakes + diverse word usage. We literally write emails at work and try to not have mistakes. This shouldn't be too hard. If you do Right letter format + right paragraph format + some diverse word usage - you'll still get 7 easily.
2. Being able to talk with someone and discuss topics in English. Don't we discuss complex topics at words in English. Should be unlikely to not land 7 or 8 in English. Make sure one doesn't stop talking and try to speak with a little fluency.

I see that people have more issues with listening and reading where time management could hurt a few. But I guess even the minimum in #1 and #2 are too much to expect. Honestly, that would really hurt their chances of success or even decent quality of life. I already see people throughout the world where they struggle to participate in meetings, communicate their ideas, etc and as a result don't go beyond an IC role.

Edited: I thought you were talking about French lol initially.

That's what I like about Kanehda. If one can speak fluent English with a North American accent (or without an accent), it will significantly put you above other job applicants for require client facing roles. The only downside is the bilingual French/English speakers will always be above you....

Strike is happening. Looks like ‘this little manoeuver is going to cost 51 years’ for some like me who lose points cause of age in the coming weeks. I was hoping a 482-3 draw today and OINP in the next month. But seems like it’s just not going to happen for me :( :/

hi guys, I need so clarity on crs recalculation.
I got an ITA with 492 CRS, the cut off was 484. I will be getting married soon thus adding my spouse in the eAPR; using the CRS calculator our score is 484, same as the cut off from the draw I got the ITA. My question is, if I proceed as explained (spouse accompanying) will our application be rejected with 484 crs? My initial EE profile has more than enough funds for us. Thanks a lot!

Will be rejected.
So how would explain this?

  • If the applicant’s CRS score at the time of the e-APR is equal to or higher than the lowest-ranked score in the round of invitations, the application will not be refused under section A11.2, as long as the applicant’s supporting documentation corroborates their claims and they continue to meet the MEC for Express Entry, including the requirements of the program to which they were invited to apply.

Wishing. Draws in march were 7000 then the April draw was 3500. There is no regularity in draws so wishing is okay I guess. If draws were regular I wouldn’t have to wish cause I would have been able to guess when I could get an ITA.

You can add your spouse after AOR, Scores will not be recalculated. Just ensure you get married after AOR not before. Search this forum you will see threads on the process of adding a spouse after acknowledgment of Receipt from IRCC..

Get an opinion from an expert BUT if you are getting married in future, you can report change of situation. Whatever you do, do not postpone your marriage due to immigration. Apply, get married at your planned date and report it to IRCC. I think it should work out but consult a RCIC or lawyer.

About adding your wife to the same application. That is interesting. It will change points. It can also affect eligibility of your application. One option is to go for a spouse PR route. Other is to add them in your ongoing application.

I will say here to wait and complete your application and later bring your spouse on a spouse PR or bring them on spouse PR then file a PR from inside.

This is too close a call to take the risk. What if tie-break means you are not eligible for that cut-off?
The only sensible way to go about this is to get married after you have submitted your application, then update IRCC with your marriage documents.
