Hello everyone. I will apply for a visitor visa to visit a friend. Should I apply through GCKey or IRCC Portal?

@Naturgrl Which one do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone applied for their sibling and siblings kids for visitor visa? What category would the siblings kids fall into. The child is a minor and would visit with their parent (sibling of person residing in Canada):

'' To visit other family who are not listed above or friends for less than 6 months'' or
'' To visit my grandparent, grandchild, sibling, half-sibling, step-sibling or non-dependent child who is a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada's Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada''

I think they should choose the first option, but at the end of the application it asks for for the following even though the application is for visitor visa and not supervisa.

  • a written and signed promise of your financial support for your parents or grandparents for their entire stay in Canada, and
  • proof that your income meets or is above the low-income cut-off (LICO) for the total number of people, including the visiting parents or grandparents.
Generally, a letter of invitation should state

  • the purpose and length of your visit
  • the nature of the relationship between you and the person inviting you
  • the contact information of the person inviting you, and whether they are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
If you are invited to conduct business in Canada, a letter of invitation should be printed on the company's letterhead.

Any advice? Thanks!

Sorry for posting same question again but i have to apply for visa today. I will apply for a visitor visa to visit my friend. I can't decide which portal to apply on. GCKey asks me to upload my plane ticket also there is no ticket upload section on IRCC Portal. This confused me a bit. Which one do you recommend me to apply through? Thanks.

Portal is simple with document submission and faster compared to the GCKey. The application itself mentions not to book flights prior to visa approval, so I don't think it would be mandatory to show your booked tickets.

I appreciate for your reply. I applied through the IRCC Portal. As you said, it was much simpler compared to GCKey.

Hi ,

When applying on IRCC Portal, I am confused on below, how to answer these.

Question 1: How much money do you have for your stay in Canada?(In CAD)
Question 2: is someone else is giving you money for your stay in Canada?
Answer is YES and details provided.

I am confused now what amount should I write in Question 1? should I write applicant's bank closing amount (which is only $3000-$4000) or inviter/sponsor bank closing amount (which is approx. $20000)? as I have also attached inviter bank statement.

please advise?

Hi all

I hope to put an employment letter for visitor visa. Should the letter only be issued and signed by my director, or can it be issued and signed by HR staff/payroll staff?

Thanks so much for your help
