Hi, my husband just got a letter that he has to pay back his CERB benefits. Will this affect negatively to our spousal sponsorhip?

No, CERB is not part of welfare program; but he has to make an arrangement and start reimbursing right away even with minimum accepted ($20, 30..etc).

No as long as he can show that he can still support you without government help.

CERB isn’t welfare , though he wants to set up a payment arrangement or pay off the amount owing or it’ll be clawed back or offset from other amounts they are expecting as a refund . Example, personal income tax refunds , gst hst credits will go towards the debt. Depends upon the amount if enforcement will ensue
