Hey! I gave my upfront medical for SDS on Jan 9th 2023. Then I was called the next 3 Days for Sputum Test sampling, no body has said anything about another Xray nor received any appointment email.
My question is, is there chances that my medical gets cleared without Xray and Culture. And should I apply for my Visa while my medical results are in process as my classes start from May 4th.
I’ll be highly in debt

Hello! When doing upfront medicals, one usually doesn’t have to undergo sputum tests. That is only when IRCC requests for further tests, is when you should undergo them.

Chest X-ray and Blood Test is mandatory as far as I am aware.

So its not medical its medical furtherance. You would have been asked to do another xray after 3 months. No so your medical will not be finalised after this 3 month later xray.

I did my medical upfront back in 2018. I was also required to do sputum test. I waited for my sputum test to be cleared before I submitted my SDS application. I deferred my program start date (was admitted for fall 2018 and deferred to winter 2019) when I was called for the sputum test because I knew it would take longer to get the medical cleared. I did not lodge my SP application immediately.

I cannot defer my intake, that's why it's a bigger worry for me

Unfortunately you don't have a choice, IRCC will not pass you through until that sputum and xray after 3 months.
I know a few people, for them their medical was passed before the repeat X-ray. Although they had an X-ray appointment but got PPR before it. So let's hope for the best

Yes you normally have to wait for sputum culture to grow and repeat chest x-ray to be able to travel to Canada if further TB testing is required. The goal is to prevent TB cases from entering Canada.

Thank you for your reply, is it common in upfront medicals too? As I haven’t submitted the application yet, so the instructions are from the panel physician and not IRCC.

A chest x-ray is part of a standard medical. Whether you need further TB testing is up to IRCC.
