Hello folks,
I am a PR since Jan 2022 and I had received my PR Card as well. However, I lost my card during my travel to India in late Oct 2022.

Currently, I am in India without a PR Card and with a return tickets to Canada on Nov 23rd, 2022.

I collected all documents and filed for the PRTD application as URGENT via Email on Oct 28th and received an automated email response as follows:

You have contacted the inbox for Permanent Residents (PR) who are outside Canada and who do not have a valid PR Card in their possession. There is now a new online portal that allows you to submit your Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) application online. If you are unable to access the portal, you may instead submit your application at your nearest Visa Application Centre (VAC). Please review the two options below and select the one that best meets your needs. Your application will be processed once it is submitted either through the online portal or via the VAC.
1. The new online portal: Find out how to apply online; or
2. Your nearest Visa Application Centre: your VAC.
If you still need assistance, you may submit your question(s) through our webform at https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx. Note: If you are submitting your question via the webform and do not know your UCI, you may enter 00000000 in the webform UCI field.

On Nov 11th, after 2 weeks, I had still not heard back from IRCC about whether or not my application was received and being processed so I sent a follow up email on the same thread. To that, I received the following automated response:

UN MESSAGE EN FRANÇAIS SUIVRA.

*** This is an automated reply. Please read the following message and do not reply to this email ***

Good day,

This inbox is NO LONGER ACTIVE AND IS NOT BEING MONITORED

Please do not book your travel to Canada until after you have received your passport with your PRTD counterfoil.

Hence, I applied PRTD again via portal on Nov 14th. When I initiated the PRTD application process on the portal, I received an automated email in my inbox stating the application has been initiated on portal.

Portal now shows my application has been submitted but I have not received any application number or automated email in my inbox confirming my application has been submitted!

My question - I just need to speak/chat with an IRCC agent to confirm whether my application has been received and is being processed. I tried contacting IRCC from India but couldn’t reach them and as perthe IVR, it mentioned the agents are no longer taking calls? I am not sure how long until I receive an update on this so I can inform my employer on the processing times as well.

If anyone of you knows any phone # or email where I can reach IRCC and speak to an agent, that’ll be a great help!

I have been thinking to try contacting embassy as well but totally unsure how to proceed. Any leads here will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Normally you don’t get any type of confirmation of your PRTD application. Unfortunately all you do is be patient. It’s unfortunate that you did not follow the application details on October 28th. Did you just send a webform requesting PRTD to IRCC? Have you reported your PR card missing? Did you get a police report if it was stolen?

Interesting, could you both indicate where you applied from? I am applying from Delhi, and I was informed that the file is still being processed in Canada.

It is extremely dependent on the location. It can take over a month in some locations.
If applying from India on urgent basis, how much time it can take?
Also, is the file going to be processed in India or Canada?
and, you mentioned to inform IRCC of lost PR card, how can I call them from India please.
Thanks

PRTD is usually processed in the local VO. You can try to submit proof that you need to return to Canada on a certain date but there is no urgent processing. If you have been living in Canada you can try reaching out to yourMP with proof of when you need to return to see if they can help.

Hi there I applied for my mother's PRTD on December 31, no reply yet.
Her PR card expired in October it was applied in August however IRCC delayed in production for an error on their side.
She has to return to Canada on February 26.
Does anyone have any update how long it would take to get reply from local visa office?

- How may I find the MP and their contact, as I was never in need of it. I was living in Montreal.
- For PRTD, there was an option on online portal to check for urgent, so I checked It and uploaded the travel itinerary. I hope I should hear soon in 2 weeks as I am traveling back in 3 weeks from now, but not sure what will happen. This is what causing me stressed.
- I have sent an email to delhi@international.gc.ca informing lost card as it is one of the visa office, however, i am not sure which optoin to select when sending webform as it will ask application number and I did get not one after online PRTD submission.

Thank you so much for your inputs.
