Hi all,

I landed a job as a tax associate at one of the big 4 accounting firms. I was looking at the NOC codes and it seems it’ll either be 1311 or 1111. I’m a bit confused since I’ll be mainly doing tax work but these job specifications are more geared towards accounting or auditing. If anyone was in a similar situation, please let me know which code you ended up choosing!

Are you a chartered accountant?

1111 is for accountants in positions that usually require a university degree. 1311 is for bookkeeper type roles that require only 2 year post-secondary certificate or diploma. If you are entry level working at big 4, you are most likely NOC 1111.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Did you submit a letter of explanation and other docs (like job ad) to justify choosing NOC code 1111?
Yes I did just in case. I think it might have helped that I work at a Big 4, since they are well-known.
