Hi All,

Could not see a thread on this. I am in one of those positions whereby my application (submitted July 2021), has had nothing done on it in 6 months after completing the test and update on tracker (April 19th).

Apart from requests your notes, which I hear in some cases do not arrive, is there any other method?

I tried contacting my MP, who really just said, its within processing times!?

I get the impression webforms and phone calls will get me the same answer....if they answer at all.

How is anyone meant to plan their life, not knowing if they could get a call to do the oath in a month, 2 months, or 12 months!

Experiences welcome :)

PR applied in May 2010. Citizenship applied in Oct 2018 applicant, Oath finally in Mar 2022. A long journey. I would certainly think mine was an outlier case, in terms of processing time coinciding with the start and the peak Covid, but a few thoughts.

1. Take a step back to assess what is the lack of Canadian citizenship preventing you from doing? From a practical purpose, it's only preventing you from applying to certain jobs and relatively hassle free travel esp. to the US.

2. Current processing time is around 2 years, I understand - so you are well within that range and should plan life accordingly. Based on these timelines, July 2023 could perhaps be a reasonable estimate.

3. You have ZERO control over the process. Staring at the kettle will not make the water boil any faster. Get on with your life, unless you have pressing circumstances which qualify you for urgent processing as per the prescribed guidelines. Then, by all means, make a case for it. The worst that can happen is that your request for UP will be declined and life goes on as usual.

My sincere advice to anyone who applies for citizenship, for your own sanity, is to not lose sleep over it, because you can neither influence the process nor the outcome. BTW, I requested for UP twice while my application was under process, and both times it was denied.
