If so, you can re-enter as a visitor.

How soon can you get back to Canada (today is September 15th, which in when you said you were coming...before you got the letter). Have you already lost that ticket?

Not sure about this, but...you should try to get a new application submitted ASAP when you get back to Canada. I believe that the public policy that usually allows a person without status to apply, is only if using the Inland application.
