Hello, thanks in advance for reading this. I'm trying to get my wife a visitor visa to Canada but I am not very familiar with what to do and what not to do. I will try and provide as much details as possible, and would appreciate any advice or recommendations!
I am a Canadian-born male, age 32. My wife is from Cameroon, age 27. She has no travel history outside of Africa but has travelled to several other countries on the continent. Her older sister has been living in Canada for 6 years. My wife was refused a visitor visa in the past, with the explanation that they did not think she would return to her home country.
My wife has a home in her name in Cameroon, as well as a decent paying job. She has all the necessary documents (home ownership, employment letter, permission from her employer to go on vacation, etc), and we will be able to have money in her account up to approximately $25000 Canadian.
I own my own home, have a decent paying job, have approximately $40000 Canadian and will be covering all her costs while she is travelling.
Ideally, we're hoping that she can come to visit, and then while here she can apply for a student visa. This seems like a faster way to get her here rather than the almost 2 year wait for spousal sponsorship.
Is there anything we should or should not do? Things we can do to strengthen our case? Should we try a different method altogether? I appreciate any advice in advance, and if any additional info is required, please let me know!
