Hi

I am applying for a Canada study permit. I got a USA student visa refusal 2 years ago and, if my memory is right (I got the refusal letter missing), I got inadmissibility to the US due to misrepresentation. I understand I gotta disclose this refusal in the application. BTW, I don't have criminal records tho.

My question is what I should write down in the Canada visa application. Can I just write the time and what visa application got refused?
Usually, what do you write in the letter of explanation? If this kind of letter is necessary, can I just describe what happened and admit this is my mistake? will it help? I am not planning to argue as I don't think it would be successful.

I am trying not to misrep to Canada anyway and hoping there is a chance to get the visa in the end.

Thanks for any suggestion

You answer the question “Yes” to have you ever been refused a visa. As long as you answer the question as YES, then you have disclosed it.
