Hi Forum members,

I am interested in going for PG/Masters in Canadian universities. I have few questions regarding seeking admission.

Can we reach out to university departments directly, instead of going through agents?

What are pros and cons on this approach?

Is there anybody who has been successful with this approach? If yes, can you provide some guidance?

Regards,
Karan

You can do research on the program and DLI you want to apply and reach out directly to the Faculty/Department. If you can afford to pay an agent, find reputable one… they have database and you’ll have one on one guidance during the process.

All universities and colleges in Canada have excellent websites, where they list the admission requirements for the various programs they offer. Take the time to go through those and check if you meet those requirements. Write IELTS, keep that score handy, and ensure your university transcripts (Undergraduate) are available with you. Pay the application fee and apply for the program through their website (or) follow instructions if they need you to do it from a third-party website.

All the information is available online. There is no requirement for you to apply through an agent, unless you think all of this is too much work.

Consultants aren’t going to consult potential supervisors for masters degree. Even if they did you wouldn’t want them to contact professors on your behalf. You actually don’t need to pay a consultant to apply you can apply on your own. If anything consultants make a lot of mistakes.
