I am from Saskatchewan and would like to move to BC somewhere. My background is biotechnology and I am wondering which city should I move and how is the pay generally in BC compared to other provinces..?

BC should be fine since it s a big city there will be lots of entry level odd jobs.

BC is a province and the OP didn't ask for entry level odd jobs.

Research the job market for your field in BC, I believe there should be a good many positions available depending on your skill level.

Neither did he ask for any job related to his field.

Quoted for the truth as they say....

Man, I am just amazed at the questions being asked on this forum. Are they written by 5 year olds? I wanna be an Architect in Canada. A wanna be a nurse in Canada. Many of the people asking questions are native English speakers. No thought put into anything, just like a cash register zombie at Future Shop.

Oh.... wait....

and equally bad answer which could apply pretty much anywhere in the world, not just BC.

There is no ideal city in Canada. Job hunting nowadays depends on luck almost entirely. And you never know where your luck lies. I suggest applying from coast to coast and moving wherever you get job offer. I landed in east coast, grabbed first survival job on my way and continued applying. About a year later I got job offer for a "real" professional job in my field in a city which I did not even know before, so I moved here immediately. Tailor your location to your job and not the other way around - is my suggestion.

Thanks guys for your advice. Yes I am looking for my field job.. Now I am earning 42,000 per year as a lab technician. I was actually wondering the pay in BC as good as it is here especially from people who are in the same field.

Another question was, I know companies here in Saskatchewan don't really bother resumes from other provinces. I would like to know if that is the case in BC as well... Cos I would rather apply and find something before I move.

What do you mean by "don't bother resumes from other provinces"? Does that imply SK employers only want to interview local fellows to avoid moving expenses?

You'd need to factor in the costs of living in BC as well. If you're going to be living in and around Vancouver, that can be an added cost. I am unsure of the typical living expenses in SK, but I would assume they're lower than Vancouver. You'll also be paying health insurance premium for the BC medical services plan, as healthcare isn't 'free' in the province.
