I hope this message finds you well. I am currently facing a situation with my immigration process and would greatly appreciate any insights or advice from the community.
To provide some context:
1. I am currently on a closed work permit.
2. My wife is a dependent and has an open work permit as a result.
3. In May 2023, we submitted applications for the extension of our work permits.
4. Fortunately, my work permit extension was approved in September 2023.
5. Unfortunately, my wife's application has not seen any progress, and it has now been nearly 9 months since we applied.
This delay is causing some significant challenges for us, as we are unable to travel out of Canada. As per the regulations, our visas can only be issued after both our work permit extensions are approved.
I have a couple of questions and would appreciate any guidance or experiences shared by the community:
1. Is there anything we can do to expedite or inquire about the status of my wife's work permit extension application?
2. In the meantime, are there any alternative visas or permits we can apply for that would allow us to travel out of Canada and re-enter, given the delay in the work permit extension process?
