I'm an ophthalmologist subgraduated from France in 1987. I passed the Self Eligibility Assessement. Now, and before submiting my application under Skilled Workers immigration, I wish now how it goes for the work permission there in Canada; do I need to pass any exams of any kind? I want to know every thing about that. Any body has the answer? Or knows where can I get it?

thanks

Assuming the same definition as ophthalmologist, which in Canada is "are physicians who diagnose eye diseases and injuries and treat problems with surgery or drugs." you will have a very long road to re-qualify in Canada. See http://rcpsc.medical.org/residency/certification/img_e.php
There are very very few residency for foreign trained physicians. In BC there are presently 6 places per year, going up to 18 see: http://www.healthservices.gov.bc.ca/cpa/mediasite/pdf/2005HEALTH0039-001058.pdf

Good luck.
