What's happening in Detroit?

Has anybody else had their PR applications re-assigned from Buffalo to Detroit and, if so, has anybody gotten any word from Detroit?

My timeline:
Feb 2005: Submitted Skilled Worker PR application to Buffalo
Mar 2005: Received AOR, indicated expected delay of 10 months
Feb 2006: Got a letter saying file was transferred to Detroit to
"improve processing time"

Now Detroit has said nothing for 6 months. Better yet, Detroit's website says that their normal processing time is 24 months and that they won't even respond to a status request until the application is at least that 24 months old. Meanwhile, others in here are reporting that their applications got routed to New York and have been finalized already! So...what's going on in Detroit? Have other people gotten stuck in the same black hole, or am I just lucky?

Good question! I've been asking the same exact thing! Grrrrr! I know a couple with this timeline:

Application Submitted: 02-14-2005
Application placed in queue: 03-21-2005
Transferred to Seattle Consulate: 02-09-2006
Initial Assessment Complete/Request for Additional Info: 03-07-2006
Medical Examinations: 03-13-2006
FBI Clearances Received: 04-07-2006/04-20-2006
Second Round of Documents to CIC-Seattle: 04-20-2006
Request from CIC-MSB in Ottawa for further medical: 05-12-2006
Application approved (WE'RE IN!), Requests for passports: 08-07-2006
Passports with visas received 08-13-2006

So, yes, what's up with Detroit?????

Applied on March 31st 2005
Received AOR in April
File transferred to Detroit on Feb, 2006

I have not heard from them since then, was supposed to get an answer in Feb or March 2006. I am getting very frustrated. Does anybody have any idea why it is taking so long for the Detroit consulate?

I got a request for proof of funds today, after 6 months of silence...No word about whether or not they want an interview nor a request for any other documents, just proof of funds. Now, given that I am already employed in Canada and the consulate was informed of that months ago (and so I shouldn't have to show proof of funds), I have to suspect that nobody has actually looked at the application in detail yet, but at least I know they didn't lose it and that I must be getting nearer to the top of the stack!

Does anybody have any advice as to whether it's better to just give them proof of funds or to write back and point out that I have employment in Canada and thus do not need to show this?

I think those of us whose files went to Detroit drew the short straw... Clearly *someone* is seeing some action.

This is SOOOOOO frustrating!!!!!
