Hi guys i am a new pr to canada.

I had to come back due to some emergency to India and applied for PRTD.

The process is painful and slow and also lots of documents needed.

The average processing time told to me by VFS is 2 months which is lot.

I have my flight next month, not hopeful to get it anytime soon.

Always travel after getting your PR card,NEVER travel without it.

Hope it helps to new PRs to Canada.

If you are a new PR, it shouldn't be that difficult.

-How long have you been PR, and how long actually in/out of Canada during that time?

-What documentation did they require?

You should have do research before you left Canada. Processing times varies from one VFS to another. I heard London UK is 2 wks and Lahore Pakistan is more than 5 months.

Generally PRTD processing time is around 2 weeks with VFS India for new PRs.

Its been more than 3 weeks and still no reply...Damn slow process
My parents had to apply for the same but it took around 4 weeks at the Chandigarh VFS office. As long as you have provided all the paperwork, i don't see any reason to worry about it. Also feel free to follow up with VFS on your case.

VFS offices also differ. I was told in Bangkok office that they have collected all documents required for PRTD, a month after I came in to reconfirm, and was told again that they have all necessary documents. Then, after some time I visited again and they told me that I "forgot" to submit something and they "sent" me an email before my second visit (which I somehow never received). I was furious. Luckily the embassy worker was very understanding and knew how things are with local VFS. She took all my documents without any intermediaries and I got my PRTD on time.
Don't take VFS words for anything. They don't allow taking cellphones in the office, so you can't record conversations and then you may have to suffer consequences of their f-ups. I was lucky to run into a nice person in the embassy, but I wonder what the error rates are with such paperwork outsourcing. I guess not everyone is lucky, so triple check when dealing with VFS.
