Hi! I am a physiotherapist and have been practicing for 6 years. I understand that for me to be able to work in Canada, I will have to take the canadian exam to get a license.

My question is this: Are there employers willing to hire me on a trainee basis while I work out my official license to work in our field? Are trainees compensated for their volunteer work?

Can anyone recommend a reputable employer/company to whom I can apply?

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
You could work as an assistant. I went to a physiotherapist and they had a couple of assistants who took care of sonar treatments, hot and cold compresses as well as answering the phones and taking appointments. I am sure they were not working for free.

You don't need a job offer. You can apply as a skilled worker and have permanent residency when you arrive, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

You can find licensing information here: http://www.workdestinations.org/home.jsp?lang=en
