Question about health insurance in Canada

So I got kicked off my parents extended health plan at age 24. I am now unemployed without health insurance but still have dental insurance, the irony. My question is I need to get a medical examination for one of the requirements for a class 3 license training. I am retraining since I couldn't find work with my degree. I've been getting certifications. How much would an examination cost without insurance? Even getting a doctor appointment is difficult. Should I just get a menial job to qualify for health insurance? The exam/letter would have never been covered by provincial healthcare because it is not for health reasons but for work purposes. Don’t know if it would be covered by extended benefit either. Since it is not covered by provincial healthcare every practitioner can set their own price. Most menial jobs do not come with extended healthcare benefits.
