Hi all,

I just landed yesterday. I am currently waiting for my PR card before I travel. Me and my husband are newly weds and we LOVE traveling! I am also planning to apply for my citizenship in 4 yrs ++.

1) I am just wondering what do I need to keep as proof of exiting and entering the country for vacations? Itineraries, ask for exit stamp etc??
2) how do i proof physical presence? do i just file taxes and use that as proof?

TIA!

I would start creating a spreadsheet. Every time you return from a trip outside canada, record the date you departed and arrived. This is for your own records but it will help immensely when applying for citizenship down the road. Don't slack on this. The first thing you should do when returning from a trip is updating the spreadsheet.

What I would also do is keep you boarding passes (for flights) so you have documented proof. Land travel back and forth from the US can be obtained by CBSA (CIC can do this on their own if they want).

With new citizenship requirements soon, I would make sure you file Canadian taxes every year, even if you have no income. Filing taxes will be a new requirement.

Otherwise that should be enough.
