Old(and expired) work permit lost. Can I request a new copy of the old one?

Hello people, I have a friend that is applying for PR and they have been requested to show originals from all their old work permits (this person has had 4 along the years in Canada).
It seems they lost one of the old ones, can they get a new copy from an old permit? or this only works for current permits?

During my CSQ file (could work for federal) when they request I present with all Documents I received as proof of Status and I had lost a couple. Instead, I went to my GCKey and took the approval letter that have sensibly similar infos and joined a letter explaining that I couldn't produce the Originals and that those extracts were from IRCC official account.
