None of the healthcare you get in Canada is free. In BC you do have a monthly payment but there isn't one in Ontario. There will be a 3 month wait period to wait for your OHIP coverage. You will have to continue to pay MSP during that time. All provinces run their healthcare system differently and provide coverage for different items. I would read the OHIP website.
