Hi,
I am PR holder and my PR expires in May-2019. I have stayed in Canada for 3.5 years and I am planning go out of Canada and return in July-2019. Can I apply for PR renewal and not stay in Canada (my spouse stays here).

I am meeting the residence requirement and applying for PR renewal before 9 month expiry date.

Is this fine or are there any rules that applicant need to be in Canada while PR renewal is in progress ?
Thanks in advance.

The only rule is that you should apply for a renewal whilst in Canada there is no rule that says you need to stay in Canada whilst renewal is processing. The only possible issue might be if for some reason you are asked to collect the card in person as opposed to it being delivered to your home address given of course only you can collect it.

Of course make sure you send only a copy of your card with the application and take your current card with you in case you travel back before your wife couriers your new card to you.
