Hi Haver, Leon, PMM

My spouse is a new immigrant and her OHIP coverage starts first week of August. I her husband still dont have a job here yet.. assuming she is pregnant, do i need to have a supplementary health insurance to cover her medicine costs and services not covered in OHIP? Please let me know.

Best Regards

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
For medications and other costs not covered in OHIP, you need a supplemental insurance. If you get a job and get supplemental insurance through your job, you can include your spouse on that but it would usually take at least 3 months or longer to kick in. Until then, you'd have to pay your own costs. Medications in Canada are not very expensive though.
