Interest income

Hi guys,

I have two questions on interest income if anyone has an answer:

1) I'm sponsoring my wife for immigration and as part of the proof of relationship, I would like to include our joint Canadian savings account that we've had for a year. I understand that as she is a visitor in Canada, she cannot work, but can she earn interest income as it is under both our names? Or is it not an issue because I can justify it by saying that I will be claiming 100% of the interest income in my tax return (I live in Canada)?Just not sure if CIC will care.

2) Also, I am currently employed and have included my option-c output and letter of employment in the sponsorship application. Do I still need to show my proof in interest income or is it optional (i.e. for people who need to meet the financial requirements and are on the threshold of meeting the minimum income requirement for sponsoring?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
