How come I couldn't find my application in the Online Status Check?

I submitted my sponsorship application and my wife's application materials (family class, spousal, applying for permanent residence) back in December (delivered by courier on 21st December) to the processing center in Missassagua. Till today I still am not able to locate our application in the "Client Application Status" online tracking system at the CIC website.

Is this normal? Shouldn't there be at least an acknowledgement that our application has been received, even if they have not yet begun to work on it? Should I be worry that somehow something has gone awry?
