Depending on the province you may need to wait 3 months before you are able to access the health care system for free. Medication, dental care, glasses/eye exams, physiotherapy are not free except if you are are in the hospital (medication and physiotherapy). Some jobs provide extra insurance that covers part of these costs. Your employer will deduct part of your salary is used to pay for the health and dental plan.
