Filing a return without a SIN#

Hello everyone,

So I've looked everywhere for info on this and can't get through to CRA. Apparently, my husband has to file a tax return even though he earned no income (as we're STILL waiting for his work permit to come through) and that he still is waiting on his PR app. He was never given a SIN# and was told he can't be given one until a work permit is obtained. All tax account software programs don't allow for a tax return to be filed without a SIN#, so what do I do? There obviously has to be a way to include him somehow but I can't find it, and it's preventing me from claiming him as a dependent or for applying for tax breaks as a married couple.

Anyone know what I can do with less than 48 hours left to file?

Thanks,

Michelle
