I am currently in the process of applying for citizenship. I have encountered a question asking which years in the past 5 have I filed taxes. I went to the CRA website and saw that I got a notice of assessment for all of the past 5 years (i.e. 2019,2020,..., 2023). The only problem is I moved to Canada in Sep 2020. I did have a valid Canadian visa since July 2019, but I decided to move in Sep 2020. I paid a tax person my friend recommended to file my taxes every year for a fee. I asked him if he was supposed to file in 2019, and he said it was for benefits, you are fine, etc. Now am I screwed, If I answer 2019 as filed taxes, will that create a discrepancy and be grounds for objection or something? someone give me some insight, please. Edit - FYI he retroactively filed taxes for 2020 and 2019 in 2021.
