Hello applicants,
I am going over the final question, #17, in the main form needed to fill out for the citizenship application. It asks about disclosing UCI, among other pieces of information, to third parties, for registering as an elector for future elections in Canada.
I know that saying "yes" is not mandatory but I am not comfortable with the idea of sharing my UCI whatsoever.
If anyone shares the same feeling as I, please let me know. Has anyone selected "no" and then, after becoming a citizen, later on visited those places to register as an elector? Instead of doing it during the application for citizenship, is UCI still required if registration is completed later on?
Here are the excerpts from that question:
17 Consent to Disclose Personal Information after you acquire citizenship
a. Do you authorize IRCC to forward your name, residential address, and preferred official language to your Member of Parliament? No other information will be forwarded.
b. Do you authorize IRCC to give your name, residential and mailing addresses, sex, date of birth, Unique Client Identifier (UCI)...... so that Elections Canada can include this information in the National Register of Electors?
c. (Quebec) Do you authorize IRCC to forward your name, residential address and the date at which you started to reside at that address, sex, date of birth, Unique Client Identifier (UCI)..... so that this information can be added to the permanent list of electors?
