I'm a US citizen who has always wanted to migrate to Canada. I however do not know any of the process of going about it. I do not own any property in Canada nor have I ever been there. I would like to know the proper way to go about being a true Canadian through the proper channels.

Sorry, but how do you know you want to be a "true" Canadian if you have never even been here? Could you tell me what a "true" Canadian is?
I would seriously start by reading everything you can about Canada, Canadian history and Canadian government and spend some time here first. I'm originally from the US myself and have spent a good part of my life living outside of the US and I can tell you that immigrating to Canada is probably the biggest decision you will make in your life. Don't do it just because you think you might harbor some contempt for the US (this may not be the case for you, but I have seen a lot of it); do it because you are COMMITTED to Canada.
and by the way...LEARN FRENCH...even if you don't settle in Quebec!
