Unless you are talking about 30+ years ago it has never been easy to book an appointment with a specialist under 6-8 weeks. I would consider it lucky to see a specialist in under 6-8 weeks. Maternity care is something very specific and although you may wait for an hour or more at your appointment unless you have a high risk pregnancy and need a longterm bed and a NICU spot you should be able to get a bed when you are in labour. If you are in for a scheduled c-section you could be asked to return the next day. Cancer care is a major focus so most can get seen within 2 weeks of a diagnosis. Shorter stays in hospitals involves wait times and bed juggling. If you are dying you will get seen in an ER right away but there are always beds in hallways in the ER and you could get stuck in an ER for 24 hrs or more waiting for a bed to be found. It sounds like you have only had to deal with GPs and maternity care which is not representative of the whole system. You actually wait a lot less being in Toronto and have a decent chance of having a GP. Wait times are much longer elsewhere and there are millions of Canadians without a GP.
Yeah, I agree. I think my frame of reference is based on the fact that I am in Toronto. Even, Ontario government is making cut to many sectors budget, including health and education with the reason that the province debt is on the increase.

Lots of weight time in Toronto too bu5 larger cities to have more doctors and teaching hospitals. You also don’t have to drive multiple hours or fly to get to see a specialist. I waited 7 months for a specialist recently in downtown Toronto and I only got in because it was a referral from a head of a department at another hospital who said he couldn’t deal with my case I needed to be seen by another doctor who specialized in my issue. Took 6 months to get into see the 1st doctor and had to wait 6 months for an subsequent appointment. I got into see an ophthalmologist in 2 months which I found very fast. Dermatologist can have over 1 year waiting lists in some cities. Really depends on who you need to see and where you live and whether you could literally drop dead very soon. A family member had multiple aortic aneurysms. He still had to wait but he gets seen in weeks not months. He could have also dropped dead many time since he keeps on getting aortic aneurysms.

It’s best if Canada comes out to put an end to Jus soli tho cos at the end majority won’t didn’t declare birthing end up getting the visas, those who declared didn’t get.seems they love the lies..and I understand they are unsure about their stance on citizenship by birth, trying to control the border too cos of those who misuse the visas..no big deal..Unto the next
